“A man who is willing to undertake the discipline and difficulty of mending his own ways is worth more to the conservation movement than a hundred who are insisting merely that the government and industries mend their ways.”
Merlin Organics works with university and school facilities management teams to design and implement Living Landscape Systems™ and other stewardship programs that create safer, healthier, and more beautiful environments for students, faculty, and staff.
In partnership with campus grounds teams, we develop and implement closed-loop, bio-optimized nutrient cycling land care systems. Most programs are driven by our four-phase process that includes analyzing existing soil and plant conditions, designing a program to restore and maintain soil and plant health, implementation that includes training grounds teams to manage the program on an ongoing basis, and finally, ongoing monitoring and assessment to ensure the program stays on track and continues to improve conditions.
Once implemented, our organic stewardship programs eliminate nitrate leaching, conserve water, improve carbon sequestering, reduce fossil fuel consumption, foster quicker post-event turf recovery, and reduce total costs of maintenance. All synthetic, salts-based and water-soluble nutrient additives, which are destructive to ecosystems, are eliminated and replaced with a 100% organic, Living Landscape System — a system that is fine-tuned to the specific plants, location, climate and traffic conditions of the areas under management.
Additionally, Merlin supplies various aerated compost tea formulations to academic partners for use in scientific trials and experiments. Learn more about our research work on our Projects page.
